The Little Kids’ Club

Background

It had been a desire for a long time to bring what we do within The Kids’ Club and it’s culture, to children of a pre-school age. The Little Kids’ Club offers a Playcare environment to 3-4 year olds, with the same high quality, affordable and flexible care that The Kids’ Club provides, whilst boasting it’s own separate and contained area within the same setting.

Looking at the bigger picture, we envision children potentially being with us from the age of 3, right through the transition from Nursery and into their journeys at Primary School, all the way to the later transition into Secondary School. We believe it is vital for these transitions to be as smooth and seamless as possible, in order for the children to go through them with confidence and be well-prepared for their next steps. Running for 8 years now, The Little Kids’ Club has proven over time to be hugely beneficial for children in these life transitions. We are proud to say that the majority of children who attend The Little Kids’ Club, have continued their journeys with us through The Kids’ Club.

In The Little Kids’ Club, active learning is supported with age and stage appropriate equipment, expectations and skilled Play Workers/Practitioners observing and being aware of individual development and ability.

Keeping a strong connection between the two clubs is something we believe in and stand for. For the children to be able to grow and develop relationships with The Kids’ Club will ultimately make the transition to Primary School and thereafter as seamless and beneficial as possible.

The Little Kids’ Club is a registered provision and works closely with the Childcare and Early Years’ Service and the Jersey Child Care Trust, who support and assistance has greatly contributed to the development of the club. As we are a registered provider, you may be able to claim a tax allowance on fees paid. Upon request we are able to send out certificates from January confirming amount paid in fees for the previous year.

Facilities

The Little Kid’s Club is also located in St Mary’s Youth and Community Centre. The Club enjoys its own designated area within the centre, with its own enclosed outdoor play area allowing for free flow play, again where a variety of activities, toys and resources are provided, where the emphasis is on self-directed play. It is open to all Island and operates during all States holidays. The centre is accessible via a large car park. It is a secure building with the inner front doors being locked from 9.00am and access gained by ringing the bell in the outer hallway.

The Little Kids’ Club is based on the ground floor and during the term time is an existing pre-school, so has the advantages of already being designed for children of this age group, with appropriately sized toilets and washing facilities. The setting has under floor heating. The entrance to The Little Kids’ Club is also locked from within the centre. The children also have access to the public playground as well as a large multi-use indoor sports hall, tennis court, playing fields and a small copse of woods. The setting has direct access through it’s own front door to the public outside areas. The children enjoy these amenities on their own or with the children from The Kids’ Club as this is all shared space. Providing great opportunities for the children to play together.

Securing your child/ren’s place

We have now moved onto a new online booking system, MagicBooking – giving you control of your bookings, access to your account at any time, and having all of your children’s information in one place. We do not request a booking deposit fee.

We have a handy guide which we have created, with information on how to create your account, add your child/ren and how to book.

The link to the booking system and access to the guide can be found on the top of each page of our website under the ‘Bookings’ tab.

Please be aware we can only secure your child/ren’s place if the payment plan or payment of outstanding feeds is adhered to.

Please ensure that you have registered your details correctly. It is essential that we have the correct details for each child and it is your own responsibility to ensure they are kept up to date on the booking system.

Before a child starts at The Little Kids’ Club we recommend that he/she have at least one induction session. (There is no charge for any induction visit). Your child/ren can visit the club alongside one or both parents/carers to see the environment, meet the staff and allow the opportunity for any arising questions to be asked and answered. When your child/ren start at the club, members of the staff team will ensure that they are looked after and will help them settle in. We take each child/ren as the individual’s that they are – as such, it may be agreed between parents/carers and management that your child/ren would benefit from a secondary induction session, prior to beginning at the club. Inductions must be organised directly with the management team and you can do this by contacting us at: [email protected]

For our Holiday Club, there is a five day minimum booking notice on our online system. If, however, you require a space on short notice, please do contact us directly.

If you no longer require your place, it is your responsibility to cancel your booking, at least fourteen days prior to the start of your booking, otherwise you will still be charged for the place.

If you wish to arrange an induction, or have any questions about securing your child/ren’s place, please contact us on [email protected] or via phone at 07797 832771.

What Your Child Will Need

During the holidays your child/ren will be signed in on arrival to The Little Kids’ Club daily, by club staff, in the form of our digital register. When dropping your children off in the morning, please park in the St Mary’s Community Centre car park and bring your child/ren through the front doors of the Centre, where you will then be directed to The Little Kids’ Club setting.

It is the same procedure when collecting your child/ren at the end of the day. When collecting your child/ren, club staff will sign them out on your behalf.

If for some reason, an adult other than yourself or a person identified as a collector on your child/ren’s account, it is essential that you inform the club prior to collection. Please note that if you have not informed us of a change in arrangements, we have the right to not allow your child/ren to leave the premises.

Lunch and Snack

Snack is provided daily for the children by the club, included in our service, in the afternoon. We try to balance the food provided to ensure there are always healthy options, yet remain appealing to the child/ren. We do of course also provide the occasional treat! Children with specific dietary needs can be catered for.

During holiday club the children are required to bring un something for their morning snack, a drinks bottle and a packed lunch.

Water is provided all session by the club, as and when the children need or want it.

We also provide fresh fruit on a daily basis, throughout the session.

We are a ‘nut free zone’ due to a number of children having severe allergies to nuts, we appreciate your understanding and acceptance of this.

Outings and Activities

For The Kids’ Club, prior to the holidays starting, parents will receive an itinerary sheet which will have all the details of the outings and activities on offer. These are for your guidance and may change on the day due to bad weather or lack of response. The children within The Little Kids’ Club have the opportunity to be part of these activities if they wish, or if deemed appropriate.  We like to be more spontaneous with the younger children ensuring all the opportunities are there yet follow their lead in the taking of them! You will be kept fully informed on a daily basis and given notice of any outings planned for that holiday.

If you do not wish for your child to go on outings, or be involved in any specific activities, for any particular reason – please ensure you inform a staff member so we can be made aware of this and any reasons behind the decision.

Please be advised that some outings may be weather dependant, or be interrupted by adverse weather or situations, so we cannot guarantee that all trips will go ahead. We will do our utmost to ensure we provide a variety of different opportunities for the children to engage in.
