It had been a desire for a long time to bring what we do within The Kids’ Club and its culture to children of pre-school age. To open a club under Playcare, for 3-4 year olds, giving priority to children who have siblings with The Kids’ Club and for the families of our Community. Looking at the bigger picture we envisage them potentially being with us from the age of 3, right through the transition from Nursery to Primary School, and through the transition from Primary School to Secondary School. It is vital these transitions are as smooth and seamless as possible, in order for the children to go through them with confidence and be well-prepared for their next step. We have been running it now for nearly 8 years and have proven over this time that it is hugely beneficial to the children. Majority of the children have continued with us through to The Kids’ Club.
We have now had the great opportunity to offer our after-school services, under Playcare, to pre-school aged children from St Mary’s School Nursery and SilverStar Pre-School. We launched this service in September 2021. Giving priority to children who have siblings with the The Kids’ Club and for families of our community. Offering full-time working parents the choice of sending their children to a States Nursery and term-time Pre-School, as they will have the guarantee of all year round childcare support.
The Little Kids’ Club, After School Club, is also located in St Mary’s Youth and Community Centre. The Club enjoys its own designated settling in and snack area within the upstairs area of the Club, where the pre-school children start off their after-school session. We offer a healthy snack for the children and have fruit available throughout the afternoon which is included in the cost.
The children are then able to join in with The Kids’ Club children in the rest of the setting with the free-flow play, again where a variety of activities, toys and resources are provided where the emphasis is on self-directed play.
Active learning is supported with age and stage appropriate equipment, expectations and skilled Playworkers/Practitioners observing and being aware of development and ability.
Keeping the connection between the two clubs strong is something we believe in and stand for. To be able to grow and develop relationships with The Kids’ Club will ultimately make the transition to Primary School and thereafter as seamless and beneficial as possible.
Both The Little Kids Club and The Kids’ Club are registered provisions and work closely with the Childcare and Early Years’ Service and the Jersey Child Care Trust, whose support and assistance has greatly contributed to the development of the Clubs. As we are a registered provider you may be able to claim a tax allowance on fees paid. Upon request we will send out certificates from January confirming amount paid in fees for the previous years.
The Little Kid’s Club is also located in St Mary’s Youth and Community Centre. The Club enjoys its own designated area within the centre, with its own enclosed outdoor play area allowing for free flow play, again where a variety of activities, toys and resources are provided, where the emphasis is on self-directed play. It is open to all Island and operates during all states holidays. The centre is accessible via a large car park. It is a secure building with the inner front doors being locked from 9.00am and access gained by ringing the bell in the outer hallway.
The Little Kids’ Club is based on the ground floor and during the term time is an existing pre-school, so has the advantages of already being designed for children of this age group, with appropriately sized toilets and washing facilities. The setting has under floor heating. The entrance to The Little Kids’ Club is also locked from within the centre. The children also have access to the public playground as well as a large multi-use indoor sports hall, tennis court, playing fields and a small copse of woods. The setting has direct access through it’s own front door to the public outside areas. The children enjoy these amenities on their own or with the children from The Kids’ Club as this is all shared space. Providing great opportunities for the children to play together.

You can download our holiday planner for the year – this gives you all the dates we are open over the school holidays.
Please ensure you let us know the dates you may require as soon as possible to guarantee a place. You can do this by sending back a completed holiday planner, or by emailing steph@thekidsclub.je – you can also just give us a ring on 07797 832771 to discuss your requirements further and to answer any questions you may have.
We do not request a booking deposit fee. For our After School Club, we operate a system that will average fees over a term, a payment plan is then devised giving you the opportunity to pay monthly in advance. We can only secure your child’s place if the payment plan is adhered to. If you require a place on an ad-hoc basis, you will be charged monthly.
If your child is coming just during the holidays, the fees are payable in advance. A payment plan is also devised where applicable, giving you the opportunity to pay monthly in advance. We cannot confirm your booking is secure until payment is received by the given date. If you no longer require your place it is your responsibility to inform the Club two weeks prior to the start of the holiday, otherwise you will be charged for that place.
Before a child starts at The Little Kids’ Club we recommend that he/she have an induction period. (There is no charge for the induction visits). The first visit will be with one or both parents/carers and the children, to come and meet us and view the Club, (although it will be still set up as a pre-school environment until the start of the said holiday) this will give everyone the opportunity to ask any questions. If we feel it will be of benefit to help with the settling in and time scales allow, other visits can be arranged during the holidays.
If you would like to arrange an induction please contact us on 07797 832771 or email steph@thekidsclub.je.
